Oh interesting to see people pay for that! How long has it taken you to get to 100?

It took two months – Substack has a great conversion funnel

Congrats! Out of curiosity, aside from substack, do you have something else on your tech stack?

      • One feature for paying subscribers, the Flow State Library, is a React app that pulls data from a Google Sheet.

    Congrats!

How do you get users to email you?
We have a lot of installs, but users generally don't email us. We've even tried to reach out to them but no reply.

Flow State is an email newsletter, so I just encouraged people to reply. I explicitly asked for feedback in about 20% of emails. You have to repeat yourself because people don't open every email and they might skim and miss it.

I get stuck on the 2nd step, how to attract leads so that you can get enough users to get feedback?

Started by signing up a few friends and then it was a slow drip from there until Lifehacker wrote about it (unexpectedly). That writeup caused a spike in subscriptions (that got me past this milestone).

      • Changed from all paid content to mostly free content (with paid extra features).
      • Added paid products: searchable library of all recommendations; custom weekly mix for one subscriber (available to all subscribers); private Spotify playlists for paying subscribers.
      • Changed send time, music services, and format based on users' feedback.
