Flowchart Fun

I made this app about a year ago, when I was employed full-time and didn't know what the term "bootstrapped developer" meant.

I made a lot of mistakes along the way - I set the price too low at $1/month, and customers trickled in but I wasn't doing any marketing.

Eventually I started tweeting regularly and my # of customers grew, but then I got accustomed to the accumulation of customers so I started focusing on other projects.

Oops! 😅

As I stopped making improvements and tweeting about them, the flow of new customers also slowed down.

Even still– I couldn't find any motivation to work on this project.

In order to recommit myself to the product I decided to try raising prices. Then I really stopped getting new customers... 😵

Several weeks went by like this. Eventually I made the decision to lower prices to a middle ground, and start committing 50% of my time each week to growing this project.

I suffer from shiny-object-syndrome– so I'm always excited about my next idea... at the expense of my current idea.

My other app, Post Parrot, helped me realize how lucky I am to have customers trickling in to Flowchart Fun without doing much marketing– and that I shouldn't take that for granted.

So I'm back to making improvements and tweeting about them. Who knows, I may even find the courage to add a landing page with a pricing table one of these days! 😆

Overall it's taken me about a year to get to $100/month revenue. I'm hoping to get to $200 within 6 months - feels like a realistic goal, so wish me luck!
