FlowCV

Create a beautiful resume and customize it easily

February 4, 2020 😻 Launched on Product Hunt

7 months after our initial launch on PH and tons of new features later, we wanted to show the community that we listened to their initial feedback on FlowCV.

We received a ton of support (and traffic) from Product Hunt and the reception was really positive. What users wanted though, was more customization options, the possibility to create multiple resumes and tighter control on regional-specific formatting.

Now that we've built all that & more, we felt like its a good time to come full circle and show the FlowCV 2.0 to the world.

We are live via https://www.producthunt.com/posts/flowcv-2-0.

October 13, 2019 Deployed major update: templates, versioning, ...

Been working on a lot more options to offer our users with regards to customisation: think colourful backgrounds, multiple resumes for versioning, fine-tuned date options, handwritten fonts for names & much more. The update has been 2 months in the making. Given that those options increased the number of possible combinations significantly, we decided to showcase some possible designs through templates.

July 20, 2019 First paying users

Last month, we developed a method for users to quickly send over a small one-time amount in case they liked the service. Thanks to our awesome & loyal users, we now receive enough payments to pay for all running costs, even though we don't force them into paying for the service & pledging to FlowCV is entirely optional.

I'll be honest - This is the BEST resume builder I've ever seen! It's a shame that I'm an indiehacker and can't be a user for it :p

Only nitpick is that I can't seem to be able to "highlight" text on your home page.

Cool approach. I have a buddy who's done the same pay what you choose on a freemium model for a side project of his. In your case, when do you anticipate launching pricing plans (if you do at all) or are you staying with this "pricing" model? If you go with formal pricing plans, which can utilize freemium conversion to paid, you will have a good data set to inform pricing, so that's great.

Congrats looks good! I have used Canva to build mine and although it was not as structured as this I was a able to create something unique and looking better than most (without being a designer).

Got a question for you, what tool did you use to produce those GIFs on your page (I guess both recording and the editor to stitch the layout and video).

    Thanks and keep pushing

What's the long term goal? Sell it or monetize it more?

April 10, 2019 Removed the need for signup

After we saw that a lot of users where interested in the service but abandoned the signup form, we decided to overhaul the on-boarding process completely. We made the decision to let users try out almost all of the functionality without having to create an account with us.

October 2, 2018 Rebuild the whole app in React

Ultimately, we didn't have the flexibility we wanted from the way we had the architecture set up), which is why we decided to re-write the whole codebase. Since that was around the time React had already really taken off, we decided to give it a spin with React and haven't looked back since.

March 2, 2018 The idea for FlowCV was born

After discovering that making resumes for ourselves was a huge pain, we starting doing a bit more research into the topic.

We were quickly frustrated by the fact that most options were either flexible enough to incorporate everything we wanted to tell about ourselves, but cumbersome to use – or the other way around.

So we decided to build a service that gives users room to express their individuality and still remains a joy to use.
