Fluenscene

Practice languages by roleplaying real scenarios

June 8, 2026 Launching Fluenscene on Product Hunt this Wednesday

This Wednesday (June 10) I'm launching Fluenscene on Product Hunt. Wanted to share what I've been building and ask for some honest feedback before the launch.

The premise: most language apps drill phrases. Real conversations are messier; you stumble, you reach for words you don't have. Fluenscene is built for that gap.

You type any situation you want to practice ("ordering coffee," "first day at work," "asking the doctor what's wrong"), the AI generates a custom scenario with a

character to talk to, and you roleplay. Tap any sentence for translation, ask for grammar explanation, or speak your reply for voice practice.

A few design choices I worked through:

  • Generated scenarios, no fixed lesson tree. The learner drives the practice.

  • Hints adapt to level (beginner to C1). Beginners get heavy scaffolding, advanced learners get only the next-correct-word nudge.

  • The free tier is real, with daily scenarios and all core features. The Fluent subscription unlocks unlimited scenarios and full voice mode.

The web is live at fluenscene.com. Mobile shipping soon.

Stack: Next.js + FastAPI + MongoDB + Mistral as the LLM, built with Cursor.

Two things I'd love feedback on:

  1. Does the "type any situation" model click for you, or does it feel like too much freedom? Some testers wanted curated paths; others loved the openness

  2. Which language are you learning, and what scenarios would you want to practice that current apps can't handle?

Will be in the thread today and tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

This is a strong premise, especially the gap between phrase drills and messy real conversations.

The thing I’d be careful with before Product Hunt is the “type any situation” framing. It sounds powerful, but too much freedom can also make the first user unsure what to try first.

I wouldn’t solve that loosely in the thread because the launch angle, first scenario examples, and paid hook all move together here.

If you’re open to it, share your email and I’ll put the tighter Product Hunt positioning read together properly before Wednesday.

About

I kept finishing language app streaks and was still freezing when a real person asked me something off-script. The gap between flashcard drills and real conversation is huge; that's what Fluenscene is built to close.
