January 17, 2024 2023 - the good and the learning for 2024

Hello Indiehacker community!

On January 13, 2023, our SaaS saw daylight and our journey began. We have been building this tool for the last 2 years before going live. We prioritize privacy and sustainability, and our entire service is built on that foundation. You can read more about our obsession with these values here: https://fluentos.com/en/blog/efficiency-speed-and-privacy/

The good:
We were fortunate enough to start with enterprise e-commerce customers. This presented a steep learning curve, and we had very little time to iron out performance bottlenecks. But once we got it right, it was amazing to see. Our popups were displayed over 30 million times, and we processed over 1 million events, the majority of which were newsletter subscriptions.

The bad (the learning):
Being highly privacy-minded, we thought this approach would resonate well globally. Consequently, we avoided using analytics, trackers, targeting, etc. We relied solely on very anonymous Google and Bing ads. However, this strategy led us nowhere. The subscriptions from paid ads seemed strange and fake, not translating into paying subscriptions.

So, this year we decided to ease up a bit on ourselves and make use of the tools that are available. However, the Fluentos platform remains committed to privacy and social responsibility at its core, and that is non-negotiable. We are also ramping up our efforts in writing blog posts and starting to engage more actively with community.

We are also looking for feedback for (https://fluentos.com):

  • Is our messaging clear about what we're offering?
  • Is the website clear and conducive to joining our subscription?
  • What is preventing you from subscribing and becoming a paying member?
  • Any other feedback regarding design, messaging, or anything else that comes to mind where we could improve is highly appreciated!

Thanks!
