Myself and my two co-founders have worked and worked in every spare hour to get this product to a place where we felt it was ready to share with the big wide world, and we are finally there.
I'm so proud of what we have achieved, there is so much more we can build in to this app and I can't wait to see where we get to in the next few years.
For those interested we decided to completely rebuilt the app 2 years ago from a Firebase/Nuxt stack to a Laravel/Inertia/Vue3 app.
With any luck this post will be the last of the 'part time project' updates and we can start to bring in enough customers to make this a more full time thing.
Two years since I launched the BETA for Flya I am re-launching a brand new version of the app with my friend and now co-founder Sunil.
We re-built the app from scratch to accommodate for more complex features and to allow for scale and stability. It has been a huge undertaking but we are so happy with what we have achieved.
There is TONS more work to do but this really feels like a huge mile stone and I am thrilled to be back on IH talking about the app 🕺

Congrats on the re-launch and getting a co-founder!
It must've been a tough decision to pause work on the original version and start from scratch.
How did you find managing the whole process and re-launch with your existing customers?
We had to do something similar for our tool. Originally built and launched it in June 2020 and then realised several months in that the MVP wasn't able to scale, so we had to scrap it and start again.
It was tough as the new version was missing some features but over time we managed to win back some customers and now are able to focus on marketing again.
Hang in there as I'm sure you've got some exciting times ahead :)

Actually it was an easy decision for us to start from scratch. I build the original version without much consideration, really as a 'proof of concept', I always knew I would need to bring in some help to get the 'real' version built. I was just thrilled to have found someone who's skill set complemented mine and we were able to build something I could be proud of.
I really didn't expect to get any real users on the first version, so this was a little bit of a stress. However we are reaching out to them all one by one and offering to onboard them on to the new version, and of course will give some good will as a thanks for being there from the start!
So great to hear from someone in a similar situation - it's always easy to beat yourself up and think "why didn't I just do it properly from the start!", so I really appreciate you dropping this reply 🙌

After getting featured on BetaList at the end of March I decided to give the app a month or so breath, and allow users to try out the early build. Since then I have had 87 users sign up to the app and over 100 have subscribed for email updates on the product.
This month I have some time to put back into the app so I plan to reach out to the users for feedback and to push the app into an 'Alpha' state!
A little while ago I sent Flya over to the guys at BetaList in hope for a feature. I didn't expect it would actually make it on there but today I got an email saying it has made it's way on to their platform!
I'm thrilled to be able to expand my reach to BetaList's subscribers. Hopefully this will increase traffic 🙂
Today I sent out an email to a handful of my first subs with a link to set up their test account.
Whilst terrified of the thing breaking everyone's computers, this should be a big step in the right direction.
Hopefully they remember why they signed up and come back to me with some good honest feedback!

I've just posed about Flya to the IH "ideas and validation" community in an attempt to build confidence in the idea.
With a little luck it will help Flya reach potential users outside of my network and give me insight into how I position the product 🎉
Guilty of never putting pen to paper when it comes to ideas, I finally got to work on a side project: Flya!
After working with a number of clients who were after something between a webpage and a blog post for some of their day to day documents, I decided to work on what that might look like.
Comment
