Focus Mode
Distraction-free study workspace built in React
I’m a student currently preparing for PCM exams, and staying focused has honestly been harder than the actual studying.
I used to have a Pomodoro timer, notes app, and YouTube lectures open all at once—but constantly switching between them completely broke my flow. And YouTube… always turned into distractions.
So instead of trying more apps, I decided to build my own solution.
That’s how Focus Mode started — a simple, distraction-free workspace where everything I need is in one place.

I built it using React, and the hardest part was making the drag-and-drop workspace feel smooth without breaking the timer’s state or performance.
What started as a personal tool slowly turned into something more. I realized other students (and even devs) face the same problem of juggling multiple tools, so I cleaned it up into a reusable starter kit.
I even tried launching it on Product Hunt… but it didn’t go well 😅
Still, I’m proud I actually built and shipped something useful.
Right now, I’m focused on improving it based on feedback and seeing if this can turn into something bigger.
Would love to hear your thoughts — especially:
What would make this more useful?
What feels unnecessary?
Would you actually use something like this?
About
I built Focus Mode because I struggled to stay focused during exam prep—switching between Pomodoro timers, notes apps, and YouTube lectures kept breaking my flow.

Distraction-free environments are becoming more valuable as attention gets pulled in every direction.
What’s the main differentiator compared to existing focus/productivity tools?
