Fodmap4All
The right food at the right time (now AI powered)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects roughly 15% of people worldwide and causes a range of digestive symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain. It is a chronic condition linked to sensitive nerves in the gut and brain communication, with symptoms that can fluctuate over time. Managing IBS requires careful diet and lifestyle changes, and one of the most effective approaches is the Low FODMAP diet, which reduces certain fermentable sugars that trigger symptoms.
Despite the widespread need, I couldn’t find any easy-to-use, free, and reliable app to support IBS patients with the Low FODMAP diet—most existing solutions were either paid or not user-friendly, and often only available in English. So, I decided to build Fodmap4All myself.
Fodmap4All is now the first free Italian app dedicated to IBS and the Low FODMAP diet, offering a comprehensive, user-friendly tool to help people manage their symptoms day-to-day. The app includes features such as:
A searchable database of foods (1450 items) with detailed nutritional info and their FODMAP levels.
A food and symptom diary to track meals, bathroom visits, stress, and even physical activity.
Detailed symptom statistics and reports that can be shared with healthcare professionals.
Over 150 carefully curated Low FODMAP recipes catering to omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans.
Multi-language support, making it accessible beyond Italy.
Two versions: a free, ad-supported one and an affordable ad-free subscription.
An AI-powered chatbot that provides personalized suggestions and guidance based on users’ symptoms and dietary preferences, making the management of IBS more interactive and tailored.
What makes Fodmap4All especially unique today is this integration of AI technology, which helps personalize recommendations and improve user experience based on individual symptom patterns and dietary habits. This ongoing AI-powered development aims to make managing IBS simpler and more effective for every user.
The app was born out of my personal frustration—after months of eating bland food and trying multiple apps that didn’t meet my needs, I decided “enough is enough.” Over four months, I researched, translated scientific data, programmed the app, and partnered with nutritionists and influencers who helped refine its content and recipes.
Today, Fodmap4All supports not only IBS patients but also nutritionists seeking a better way to guide their clients through managing IBS with the Low FODMAP diet. It’s rewarding to see how the app has grown from a personal project into a useful, AI-powered tool that makes a real difference.
About
I created Fodmap4All because I couldn’t find any easy-to-use, free IBS app on the market. Starting from personal need, it grew with professional input and now includes AI-powered support.
