Followchain hit 3.3k monthly active users, up 800 from last month.
@manyTomas posted a topic recently about hacking Twitter by following each other.
followchain.org is exactly that, but a follow for follow community for Instagram instead.
Most of our traffic is coming from organic search and referral from Instagram.
After 3 months since launch, followchain.org crossed 2,500 monthly active users, up 1,000 from last month!

Almost all of it is done through direct messaging on Instagram. I reached out to my existing followers and found lots of potential users from specific threads on Reddit (r/Instagram, r/Followback).

I personally sent 1,500+ direct messages (to date) on Instagram to targetted users. I had a decent following at the start so I reached out to a bunch of mutuals who might be interested in this.

That's a lot. How many replied? Did you do this through the mobile application?

The open & response rate of direct messages I sent is well above 70%.
My first 100 users were mostly mutual followers that I've followed for and engaged with (their posts) for a long time.
And yes, I do this through the Instagram app. It's much harder on a desktop.
