I posted something on my Linkedin and social media accounts. Got some likes and congratulations from friends and colleagues.
My wife donated $6.66, of course Paypal took a cut :D
This is my first idea that actually goes live. It is by no means perfect or even useful, but it means something to me.
Guess it is never too late to start learning something. AWS it is. Found tons of tutorials, tried multiple approaches, eventually decided to make it simple by deploying everything inside an EC2 instance with docker.
Performance issue? Let me worry about it when I have enough active users.
AWS cost? I got the $300 credit, hooray for 6 months!
OK, getting close to finish the development of the main features.
How should I deploy it?
AWS seems interesting.
Wait... it rang a bell.
Did I ever purchase a course about AWS on Udemy?
I did.
What is my progress?
1%.
Ouch.
At least it shows most of its content are still up to date.

Well, I overestimated my skills on the frontend. I have to admit I am a backend developer with a little bit experience on the frontend.
So no Tinder-like swipe feature, just a simple SPA with Angular. Since I have tried building backend with Nodejs and MongoDB, let me play with Spring Boot and Mysql this time :D

Finally decide to do something about the idea.
It will be great to have both a mobile app and website, but I am not a mobile developer, what should I do?
After comparing some frameworks that claim to allow you build native apps with Javascript, I tried NativeScript. Soon I found it too hard to use. Or because I am too used to Angular and Java?
Ugh... web first then.

Believe it or not, I got the idea from Sina Weibo account @ItsBadForYa (https://weibo.com/3857992407/IxZQjFBEp) It goes like this:
Okay, so hear me out. An app, right?
It's like Tinder.
But you and your significant other both have accounts.
Y'all open it at the same time and swipe left or right on restaurants within a radius that you determine.
After y'all match, that's where you have dinner.
Edit: We can call it "Chicken Tinder".

When you and your friends would like to find somewhere to hangout (AFTER the pandemic of course), you can use it to search for places of interests (data provided by Yelp), share them to your friends and vote.
