Formito
Create Chat-style Forms; no-coding required.
It was a lengthy process, but it's done!
Following our attempt to reach more organic users through marketplaces, we created an app for Airtable. With this app, users can turn their Aittable into a chatbot and collect responses. Responses automatically add to the table.
The SDK is super easy to work with and they have their UI components which make app development a pleasant experience, but the review process was quite lengthy! I submitted the app in early December 2020! It took more than 2 months to review and publish the app, while they mentioned that the review process would take 2 weeks!
You can install the app from https://airtable.com/marketplace/blkxFRsccm8ZcLDeG/formito
Let me know if you have any questions.
Monday launched their own marketplace and I thought it's a good place to submit an app and get some users. The review process was a little long. It took over a couple of months with a lot of change requested, but finally, it's online 🎊
The app is converting a board into a Formito chatbot. Give it a try if you have a Monday account: https://monday.com/marketplace/92

I created an add-on for Formito.com and published it on Google Workspace Marketplace. After installation, it can turn your Google Form into a chatbot and collect responses.
I hope this could be a good channel for acquiring new customers.
If anyone is planning to go this direction, I'd say creating an add-on is pretty easy. I created my first add-on without any previous knowledge. They have pretty good documentation where you can get started quickly. I read the parts of docs that were necessary for creating an app for Google Forms and jumped into coding. The coding part didn't take me more than a couple of days.
The review process was also easy and super quick. My add-on got approved in about a week with a couple of revisions. I submitted apps to other marketplaces and the review process easily takes a month or two! If you want to speed up the review process, create your Google Cloud Project once your add-on is in a good shape and you know which scopes you need during OAuth. Then, submit your OAuth screen for verification and continue tweaking your add-on. If you submit the add-on before your OAuth screen verified, the add-on review process suspends until your OAuth screen verifies.
My add-on didn't have much UI as it's sending API request to another service. But I highly suggest using jQuery and a Material UI kit for designing your add-on as they highly speed up your development.
You can take a look at the add-on here: https://gsuite.google.com/marketplace/app/formito_chatbot/420604891320
Finally, I launched Formito on ProductHunt. I’ve been developing this product for more than a year as a side project and completely redesigned it recently.
I didn’t launch this on ProductHunt as I wasn’t sure that if it’s the right move and I can get enough upvotes to potentially acquire some users, but the time has come.
I hope it goes well and Formito ends up being in the top 5 products of the day.
Also, there’s a 30% discount! Check the first comment in PH for more details.

I've got to say this looks really cool! 👍

Thanks. I put a lot of time into designing this.

One can tell. :)
Here's one thing I'm wondering: When would I use a chatbot-like form over a traditional form and when would a traditional form make more sense?
I feel like a good and, most importantly, honest guide on this topic would really help me find use cases for Formito in my applications.

It depends on how many inputs you have, how many forms you're going to have on your page, or how important the form is for your conversion. For example, I don't suggest to convert your single-input subscription forms or two input signup forms on your landing page to a chatbot or popup form.
But if you want to offer a visitor several tasks such as contact us, write feedback, report bug, etc. on the same page, it might be a good place to use Formito. Apart from the space they would occupy; designing, adding them to your page, and handling form submission could take some time. With Formito, the design is ready, creating or modifying formitos is in one place, it handles submissions, and even it can do some automation using integrations. Adding it to the website is as easy as adding a script tag, and then trigger any chatbot by putting
#formito-{formito-id}in the href attribute of your link.As an example, you can check https://formito.com/help where I have Contact us, Report Bug, and Write Review forms on a single page. There's more on other pages, such as suggest a template on the template page, suggest a free tool on the tools page, and a few more on the dashboard where it prefills some data for submission such as user name, user email, user id, etc.

Thank you for the thought-out reply!
For me, it would be very helpful to have a long-form guide on when to use chatbot forms. That is my primary question: When and why would I use chatbot forms?
It depends on how many inputs you have, how many forms you're going to have on your page, or how important the form is for your conversion.
Go in-depth on this. Tell me exactly how to determine if my use case is right for chatbot forms.
Give me examples, too, for when to use and when not to use chatbot forms. Graphical examples, examples which I can try myself, so that I can see the advantages and disadvantages in action. I want to see an example which I just look at and think: "Wow, this is cool / genius / whatever. I want to have this myself."
Write a tutorial, a guide. One that teaches me when and why to use chatbot forms, when to stick to traditional forms and how to design chatbot forms for best conversion.
But if you want to offer a visitor several tasks such as contact us, write feedback, report bug, etc. on the same page, it might be a good place to use Formito. Apart from the space they would occupy;
Space is not my primary concern. I could show various traditional forms in modals like you do and have them on the same page as well.
designing, adding them to your page, and handling form submission could take some time.
I'm also not too concerned about this. I'd like to build something which my users love and I would be willing to invest quite some time into getting it right.
That said, if I have already been sold on using chatbot forms, then that would sell me on using Formito.
---
Honestly, I would take this chance and write a really long guide on the ins and outs of chatbot forms.
Think about the upsides:
- The guide would be easily shareable on social media. People love learning things.
- The guide would be so good for SEO. You'd probably automatically have the relevant keywords in it, could get quite a few links to it and you'd pick up the right kind of users from Google: users who already show some level of interest in chatbot forms.

Thanks for writing this and guiding me on the next move. My plan was to start content marketing in early 2021, but I'll prioritize it. I might start with adding more landing pages to the website where they target specific audiences and the benefits they get from Formito.
Your suggested article would be one of the first articles I'll publish. Thanks again.

Awesome! Please let me know when you publish it because I'd really like to read it and learn from it.

On an unrelated note, I recently did this chatbot-like Corona self-test recommended by German officials: https://covidguide.health
The biggest pain point for me was that I couldn't go back and edit my answers. I had to redo everything from scratch.
Maybe that's something you can solve better in Formito. :)

Upvoted! Your product looks great. I currently use the Hubspot livechat widget, but this looks great to collect specific data :)

Thank you so much.
Yeah, that's the goal. I'm not trying to build a livechat, but a chatbot for collecting data, building micro-services, and automating businesses.

We got a brand new create page where users can browse templates and converter tools. Now it's much easier to:
- Create a blank chatbot
- Start from a template
- Or convert a table or form to a chatbot!
You can check this out at https://app.formito.com/create
Stay tuned, we're adding more actions and converters in November.

Instead of blogging for content marketing, I decided to build a few free tools for Formito which could bring some traffic and backlink. I created a Favicon builder a few weeks ago, and I’m adding a Free Typography Logo Maker to the list of tools today.
I launched it on ProductHunt today. Would love to hear your feedback and support.
Check the tool: https://formito.com/tools/logo
I decided to create some free tools to increase traffic to my website. I started with a free favicon maker where you can create letter-based favicons easily. I made it on the weekend and decided to launch it on ProductHunt today.
Here's the post on PH: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/free-favicon-maker

Love IT! It was jus what i was looking for! :)
My two cents, could be useful to add the possibility to choose the font weight; so we can choose to use bold or italic :)
p.s. i used it on IsRicherThanYou.com and it is really awesome!

The U.I is nice too 👍

Thank you so much. I'm on the first page of Hacker News, not sure why upvotes are so few on ProductHunt. Seem people love the Favicon Maker, I'd probably go for a version 2.0 with support for more designs in a few weeks later.

Oh cool, I upvoted there too. Yeah it might be because the product still has a very tiny scope, adding more features will certainly help. Also I'm not sure about how much of the HN community spends time on PH.

My assumptions:
- favicon needs to be .ico format
- it needs to be named as favicon.ico
- It should be in /root folder
Am I right? So that we don't have to mention it separately in the html document.
Can you support ico?
-
2
That's not required anymore. You can add the generated HTML code to head of your website if you're only building for modern browsers: https://caniuse.com/link-icon-svg
Otherwise, you can download the PNG format and just add that file as mentioned in https://www.w3.org/2005/10/howto-favicon

Created a payment block where people can accept payment directly from their chatbot!
1️⃣ Connect your Stripe account
2️⃣ Add a payment block
3️⃣ Set a price and currency
4️⃣ Ready to go!
So excited to see what people make. They can easily run a business with Formito.com which was the initial goal.

I've been working on the next version of Formito.com in the past 4 months. Mostly, changed the tech stack from PHP/MYSQL to a serverless alternative (Nodejs/Firestore). It removes some limitations I had in adding new features which require changing the database structure.
It doesn't come with a lot of new features, but tons of improvements and a new chatbot builder is in there. Basically, I redesigned the whole product. I guess people are going to love this one.
Would love to hear your feedback.

Hey, nice product! Really like the landing page.
I got an error on the real estate demo when I clicked Sell, might worth taking a look.
Also on my phone (S10 Plus) the form goes out of screen on the 2 sides a bit.

Hi,
Glad you liked the product and landing page.
Thanks for letting me know about these issues. I'll fix them in a few hours.

I got my first yearly subscriber, this feels great!
The subscriber was using the app during 14-day trials and reached out by asking a few questions about features and integrations. Eventually, he upgraded his plan to Standard right after the trial period.
