Forrest
Running and cycling app that lets you race
Last time it was Russia, this time it’s Japan. Once again, Forrest has been featured on Lifehacker (the Japanese version of the site this time). Whereas the last press coverage we received was just inclusion in an app roundup, this feature is a dedicated article describing the complete feature set in much more detail and includes many of the screenshots and promo images we included in our press kit. We’re still unsure as to how they heard about the app as we haven’t reached out to any Japanese journalists. I can only assume it’s related to the first feature on the Russian Lifehacker. As with the last press coverage, it’s caused a nice little bump in downloads and has introduced Forrest to a new international market we weren’t expecting.
Today Forrest was featured on the Russian version of Lifehacker in their round-up of the best apps of October 2020. We have no idea how they discovered the app as we certainly haven't reached out to any Russian journalists. Still, it's a great little feature and has caused a modest bump in downloads in a market we weren't expecting.

It's taken far longer than is should have — finding time for side projects can be hard — but v1.0 is finally complete and launched on the App Store. This first release is definitely and MVP, there's so much more to come — a business model for one. v1.0 is solely ad supported but has zero operating costs and so should be a decent test of the concept. Let's see if people like it and we actually have market fit.
