For a long time, I was excited to build something. anything. If it seemed like something people might use or buy, I wanted to build it. That also lead me to client work, and after a few years of working on startups for clients, I realized that there was something in common with all of the projects I'm most interested in. It was the underlying idea that permeated what obsessed me most on any given day:
How can I help people work independently?
Independence is a spectrum. A freelancer is more independent than an employee by most measures, but not all. Some would say you trade one boss for many. I define "more independent" as having more options, and fewer obstacles creating friction from choosing the option you want most.
Forte Chat is a platform to help people sell their expertise over video chat sessions. It's not a life changer, not on it's own. The idea is that it's the easiest, most risk free first step towards independent work. You can do that while you're an employee, or a freelancer. It can be a secondary small source of income, or you could do it full time (eventually). But by using it, my hope is that it can help people be a little less dependent on the things that support their current life, but may be holding them back from the life they want to move towards.
Later on, I hope to expand Forte or build other things that will help people not just consult, but build products and assets that can grow in value without a direct time in = money out equation.
