Found Link

We’re on holidays, we continue brainstorming about things but don't really do much about it. We decided to meet up after the holidays to giveaway via mail the several stickers that we’ve printed along with a flyer explaining how it works. Sometimes holidays just get into the way..

Today we dropped the stickers at random mailboxes and are awaiting to see how many of them will be claimed. At the same time, we’re posting on social media about found.link. This post is one of them.

We update the app to allow users to claim and print their own code for free. No need to pay us in order to use the service anymore.

We buy some simple label stickers on amazon and with google spreadsheets we print the urls with text on them.

Are we ready to sell?

We buy the domain found.link. We write a simple django based app that allows us to run found.link. We end up using vue.js (without cli tools, just plain vue.js) to create some interactiveness on our landing page.

We setup a paypal account so we can start charging.

We deploy it.

We start asking friends for feedback. We learn a bunch and figure out that our pricing is too high for the basic stickers.

What is found.link?

Found.link is a simple service that sells stickers with unique codes on them. Attach the stickers on your portable items like key chains, phones, tablets, and laptops. When your lost item is found the person will go to your unique code link and send you an email/SMS without seeing any of your personal data.

Motivation

Build a small service that sells lost and found stickers with unique codes in hope to help others to get back their lost items.

My partner lost his keys. Even though he had a keychain tracker on them it failed. He pings me and pitches me the idea of lost and found stickers. We research on google to find that there are quite a few others doing this. What becomes clear is that there is a market to this and there's room for proper marketing of such products.
