I setup a type for for peeps to apply! I started doing more content marketing (it feels SO WEIRD and I feel like half more articles just get banned O_O). Spamming slacks, discords, etc. SO BAD! Not sure if this will scale D:
I will try to figure out whats the best bang for buck (time wise) in terms of user acquisition and post back here! Goal is to get to 150 to close out the cohort.
Posted around Slack, YC, Discord, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc, scrambling for users.
Super low churn (95% retained) based on Stripe!
Biggest thing that keeps me going is the retention. I don't care about growth because if the bucket is too leaky, then I'm fucked. The bucket seems quite happy and nice and I'm ready to pump more gas and maybe (maybe!?!?) charge a higher sub price. I'm so scared to though.
After doing the interviews, I sent out an email to people I interviewed if they wanted to be part of the first batch of Founders Cafe. 9/11 accepted HOLY SHIT!!!!!
This was so scary for me. Also super painful to do email followups...
The first conversion happened 3 weeks later when the trial ended!!!! It was $20/mo test with a 1 month trial
Conducted 40 user interviews to see if accountability or community was a huge painpoint among founders!
75% of the founders I interviewed shared challenges there, and steps they took to get there. Paying for OnDeck, WeWork, etc... Thanks to the Mom Test, actually asked the right questions
Worked on Sesamecall.com for about a year. It was so painful, grinding and trying to get users, run experiments.
Learned:
I want to make a sustainable community, not be VC baked or be poor
I want to work on something solo. I don't have any needs for a cofounder since I can do it all myself -- emails, coding, etc. Don't have a need for complimentary skillset since mine is pretty balanced. If I need it, I'll know. But I can't seek cofounders out of loneliness anymore.
