Frontmatter Solo

Stop rewriting templates for every client stack.

April 8, 2026 I kept rebuilding the same Astro frontend in PHP/Twig — so I automated it

Every client project, same thing: build a clean Astro frontend, then rebuild it in Twig or PHP for the backend. Same UI, same structure, different syntax. 2–5 days of translation work per project.

I looked for a tool that automated the handoff. Found one abandoned GitHub repo from 2022. Nothing else.

So I built Frontmatter Solo — a CLI that transforms a constrained Astro project into explicit Twig or PHP templates at build time. Clean output for Symfony, WordPress, Drupal, or any custom PHP stack. No runtime, no lock-in.

Started with a free OSS validator (npx @withfrontmatter/solo-check) to let people check compatibility before buying. Hit 269 downloads in 2 days without any promotion.

Solo is $49 one-time. Would love feedback from anyone doing Astro → backend handoffs.

I kept rebuilding the same frontend twice — once in Astro, once in Twig or PHP. Same structure, same components, different syntax. Pure translation work. So I built a CLI that does it automatically.
