FuelCenter

Free pacing and fueling tools for marathon runners

Visit Website
April 1, 2026 I built a free race planning toolkit for marathon runners

Every fueling calculator I found online gave the same useless advice: "take 30-90g carbs per hour." Every pace chart ignored the actual course elevation. I wanted one tool that combined both.

So I built FuelCenter. You pick a race, enter your goal time and gel brand, and get a mile-by-mile strategy with elevation-adjusted pace splits and gel timing on one printable sheet. The splits are slower on uphills and faster on downhills based on the Minetti energy cost formula.

What's in it:

- Race strategy builder for all 6 World Marathon Majors + UTMB + Leadville

- Fueling calculator with 10 gel brands (Maurten, GU, SiS, etc.)

- Pace calculator, race time predictor, heat adjustment, hydration tools

- Blog with gel comparisons and course-specific fueling guides

- 28 pages of content, all SEO-optimized

Stack: Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Vercel. No backend, everything runs client-side. Total build time was about a day, with Claude Code doing the heavy lifting.

100% free, no accounts, no paywall.

Check it out: https://fuelcenter.co

Feedback welcome, especially from runners who've dealt with race-day fueling disasters.

About

I run marathons and got tired of vague fueling advice like "take 30-90g carbs per hour." That range is so wide it's meaningless. So I built FuelCenter. It started as a fueling calculator, but it's grown into a full race
