Fueled on Bacon
Subscription Full Stack JS And Design
So at the moment we have a large client that constitutes half our revenue which is mostly a marketing client.
And then we've yielded some other new work just from posting articles and YouTube videos.
Also my sales guy has been grinding away and starting to get his "sea legs" about him. Lots of leads on the table, waiting for some new stuff to close.
We've been looking at the best projects we've done in the past and are picking a target customer for our direct outreach efforts.
We've decided that our A-Lodge case study is probably our best work and we're going to double down on it. I'm putting together a complete e-commerce solution for adventure lodge type hotels.
It's going to provide room booking, trip packages, merchandise, gear rental, and room service all through the website.
And we're going to sell the site in combination with a couple weeks of design and branding work.

We added our 5th subscription client, this time at our highest subscription level.
The plan is functioning.
Full time sales guy is now jamming through leads and figuring out our messaging on the front line.
I'm now studying offerings like wptangerine.com and accesswp.com to see what we can do to add a "lowest tier" to our funnel that easily gets people in the door and into our Slack workspace so we can predictably fill out our schedule.

We're now at 4 clients. 2 at the standard level, 2 at economy.
I simplified our plan structure to just 3 plans: economy, standard, and priority.
And I'm simplifying the sales process. I'm trying to get this process down to where a relatively green sales person can go out and sell clients for the agency without too much hand holding and without any proposal writing process.
I want it to be impulsive and simple for clients to "just start" with us and see what we can do.
We're working on explaining our value prop as a "10x" return over alternatives. I think we're going to have that together soon.
I want to reach $5k a week in the next couple months.

Fueled on Bacon is now making $560 week from converting one my older "agency" style clients to the new business model.
It was great to prove that someone would work with us in this new way.
I want to get this up to where it's a good income for me and my designer at a minimum.

I had the idea to do the "subscription" agency that weekend, and then it just became a short flurry of throwing together off the shelf Woocommerce plugins to make it happen.
We already had a beautiful website, so it was just a matter of extending it and adding all the pricing options.

After years of doing the agency grind, having big ups and downs, and then finding myself looking for a job as a developer, I realized I didn't want to take a job that way.
I realized instead of selling what I do as a developer to some company for $60 and hour or whatever, I could instead make the transaction more flexible and make software development available to more businesses by turning it into a subscription where people could scale up and down with their needs and commitment to it.
Basically just my myself a subscription instead of an employee.
I'm just putting myself out there to deal with the volatility of the sales cycle instead of looking for the stability of a regular income.

I hated the grind of writing and selling proposals as a small marketing agency. So I decided to make a SaaS version where I sell subscription access to my team. It's "Get started now" instead of 2 weeks of meetings.
