I know that I can't buy food with GitHub stars, but it still feels great to know that other people are interested in and appreciate what we do with Fugu.

I'm not sure how many people use Fugu as a self-hosted version, but I hope a few already do!

If you want to be part of the 🐡⭐️ club, check out the GitHub repo.

January 22, 2022 Added conversion funnels

Yesterday, I've finally had some time to finish my work on the new conversion funnels feature and deploy it. It's pretty basic and there are some things missing (such as showing the conversion rates per step), but I think it's also super useful to see user flows and better understand where your users are dropping off.

And all this in an extremely privacy-friendly way without tracking unique users :-)

Head over to fugu.lol and check it out.

Hey, just checked Fugu. Looks interesting. Do you plan to support custom domain on analytics?

Thanks, Wilson! What do you mean by custom domains? You mean where you log in to Fugu to see your projects (i.e. https://app.fugu.lol/projects/your-project-name) or the domain you call when tracking with the Fugu API (i.e. https://app.fugu.lol/api/v1/events)?

December 24, 2021 ⭐️ 30 stars on GitHub and first PR

I was suprised to see that the Fugu GitHub repo had reached 30 stars when I opened it this morning. Furthermore, someone made the first public PR correcting some typos in the readme. Great feeling!

Yesterday, I mentioned Fugu in a comment in a related HN thread, and it got upvoted to be the top comment.

This also resulted in a nice visitor spike and 2 new Fugu users (free trial).

December 17, 2021 Launched select date range feature 📅

I recently added a new feature to Fugu which let’s you select a date range for your data. You can watch a demo here.

As you can see, you can select between 5 pre-defined date ranges: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month, Last 6 months, and Last 12 months. I think the pre-defined ranges come in very handy and cover a lot of use cases. No worries, I will soon also add the ability to select a custom date range.

If you’re looking for a simple and privacy-friendly products anylytics solution and haven’t tried Fugu yet, head over to fugu.lol to give it a whirl.

October 27, 2021 Launch 🎉

After working on Fugu on the side for the last few months, I'm finally ready to go public.

This first version includes some basic features, such as tracking events with properties and analyzing events and property values.

I decided to offer a single price tier at $9/month for the cloud version of Fugu to make things easier. Of course, folks can always self-host, for free!

October 10, 2021 Added Property Breakdown feature

An important part of Fugu is that you can save custom properties along with your event.

With the property breakdown feature, you can break down each event’s property to their values. For example, if you have events with "Blue", "Red", "Green" as values for its "color" property, the breakdown view will show a separate line for each property value.

Have a look at this video to see it in action: https://canolcer.com/videos/fugu_property_breakdown_demo.mp4

This was the last feature I wanted to add before integrating Stripe and launching publicly. Let me know if you want to test drive this early version: canolcer@hey.com

August 2, 2021 Launched alpha version

Today, I launched a very simple alpha version of Fugu. It has almost no styling, and all you can do is create an account, add projects to your account and start sending events from your apps. When sending an event, you can define an event name an arbitrary properties in JSON.

Currently, you can only view your events and not yet segment by properties. Also, you can't set the timeline or granularity.

I've integrated Fugu at the company I'm currently working (Chimpy) to start collecting real-time data.

Before launching public, I want to add these features:

  • Select time range
  • Select time granularity (day, week, month)
  • Filter by property
  • Basic styling (e.g., of error messages)
  • Billing

Let me know if you want to start already as a free alpha customer!

About

It's important that companies have a simple and privacy-friendly way to track user behavior in their apps. I decided to work on Fugu because I couldn't find a good solution in the market.
