January 20, 2021 Reached 100 MRR after 2 months! 😊

A bit more than 2 months after the launch on Twitter I've reached 100 MRR with fullStats!

Yeap, it is not something to get very crazy about but at least validates a bit the idea and encourages me to push it a bit more and see if I can still attract more people.

The niche is quite small (Gumroad sellers making over $300/year, which are about 10K people)

I had a couple of cancellations but I've written cold emails to each of them to understand the reasons and keep on improving fullStats.

I'll be working a a bit more on it, perhaps try Google ads and see what happens next!

November 2020 Launched on Product Hunt

After launching on Twitter I though I should also launch in other places and Produt Hunt was one of them.

I launched on 9am pacific time.

I created the images, improved the video, added a description and posted my product hunt link on twitter too.

November 10, 2020 I got my 1st paying customer!

This was the release day. I announced the product on my twitter account (13.7K followers) and got a few interested people.

I knew my twitter followers were probably not the target audience. Most won't even know what Gumroad is. But here's what I got that day:

  • 8 new free users
  • 1 payed user

There's a free demo available that doesn't require registering to try it out, so I guess that's what many people saw too.

Congrats! How long did it take you to build out fullStats?

This is not easy to calculate to be honest. It started as my own side project for my personal use around August 2019.

I worked on it on the side until around mid November 2019 and then stopped until mid September 2020.

Then I worked on it on the side until around 1 Oct and then I put more time on it from the 2nd Oct to the release day the 10th of November.

Perhaps it took longer than expected due to having contracted someone for some time to help me build part of it. Then getting his code and adapting it wasn't straight forward.

I think the free demo is really going to help people see how valuable it is, congrats on the first one!

October 21, 2020 Finished my MVP

The first version was ready for the test!
I sent a few tweets to people who I knew where using Gumroad to sell their products. I wanted them to try the platform for free and give me some feedback.

I also got in contact with some "big sellers" and people who had a great following. My aim was to also get some more exposure on launch day if those people could recommend or mention it on their accounts.

I also asked for people here in Indie Hackers:

August 14, 2019 Started the project

I had the idea in mind for a long time. I believe I even made a couple of prototypes before this date.

However, I started working more seriously on it since August 14th 2019.

At the moment I had contracted a 1 time full employee to help me with side projects regarding my other products (fullpage.js) and I took the chance to also iterate a bit on this idea.

The purpose was to create an internal tool for myself and not a product for others.

It was only later on when I saw the potential on it when I realised it might be useful for others too.

While working as a web developer I created an open source project (fullPage.js) that 3 years later allowed me to quite my full-time job and became a "little free bird", or what others call it "an entrepreneur". I starte
