Manage your corporate travel data with funnel.travel
October has seen a surge of functionality in funnel.travel. Thanks to a collaboration with a visa application service provider, I've been able to add some valuable extensions. Now, GDS files can be imported, and booking data can be sent to the visa provider.
Unfortunately, the targeted pilot customer is a no-show, as they insist on using a different technology to connect to the GDS. (Amadeus webservices are a nightmare. Not technologically, but in terms of costs and red tape).
So, at the end of the day there's still no productive customers, but it's the first month I've made some (one-off) money with funnel.travel. And getting an Upwork freelancer to make a whiteboard animation was a welcome distraction.
The productive deployment for funnel.travel just finished successfully. There's still tons to do, but I'm still feeling pretty good right now! https://www.funnel.travel/

Is this like TripActions?

I like to think funnel.travel is pretty unique, but this is mainly based on its architecture and approach to handling travel data. With the right extensions, funnel.travel could probably be configured to be very similar to TripActions (or any of those itinerary-centered travel apps). Key point is, though, that funnel.travel has the flexibility to be something completely different, using a different extension setup.

18 months ago I envisioned an application where connecting travel-related services was simply a matter of activating and configuring plugins. In a data stream which is based on GDS to SAP, adding an open booking stream based on e-mail confirmations shouldn't mean a 6-figure (or 7-figure) IT project. It should mean simply adding an e-mail connector to your data stream.
Today, I had funnel.travel at the point where I activated an e-mail plugin, activated a Slack plugin, and then ran a travel confirmation e-mail through the system. Out came the Slack notification that Simon is going places. Feeling pretty pleased with myself.

As a software developer with years of experience in the travel industry, I’m thrilled to build something completely new. I’m thrilled to build something using cutting-edge technology. I’m thrilled to be in a position where I can do things “my way”. And I’m very, very apprehensive of the challenges, the pitfalls, the moments when can-do hits but-not-here. I’ll just take a first step onto the road, then.

Lots of platforms are competing to get users to book hotels and flights. Only a few - very large - platforms deal with the travel data post-booking. funnel.travel fills the niche to manage travel data for SMEs.
