A Twitter Bot that translates texts in Tweeted Images.
Coded the Bot in Python. Had a hard time in crossing the Authentication obstacle in Google Drive, Doc and Translation APIs. It was a great experience though. I was able to bring to life exactly what I had ideated. Launched the Bot in Product Hunt as well. Have 15 followers to the Bot account so far. Planning to do some marketing to Journalists and other who may be interested in this use case.
I see that many times Documents are being tweeted as images. Having done few projects in OCR, I thought I should do an OCR of the images and store them as Google Docs. This probably will help people who want to copy, paste the texts to do it more easily.
Then I came up with an enhancement - I saw that there are some users who don't understand the languages used in the images. In one instance, I helped couple of people who wanted an English Translated version of a Tamil Nadu Government's tweet of a Lock down related Announcement in Tamil. I then realized our Central Govt. sometimes tweets out Hindi Documents which I don't understand. So, a Translation feature will definitely be helpful.
