Geospatial services and location APIs

October 26, 2020 Finished MVP

Today the completion of API documentation and examples means my MVP is complete.

I've been wanting to learn more about the no-code world, so I build the landing page using bubble.io - I think in the future I will continue writing using code as I don't think it is any faster for me to create bubble components as it is to use a modern framework like React, and learning time is roughly the same for me.

The forward and reverse geocoding APIs are available for free, with paid subscriptions available for higher usage tiers.

September 15, 2020 Decided on MVP

Since leaving my job in June of this year, I've churned through many projects and ideas to spend my time on. Most of which are related to geospatial computing, or the half-century old industry of GIS.

Over time I realized that no matter what I worked on, I would need core pieces of functionality. I decided to start with building these pieces from the ground up rather than buying, and put them out there for others to use. What exactly would be finished before launch is TBD, but at the very minimum it would be a geocoding API, which allows users to convert human readable locations (in the form of addresses, or names of cities/countries) into machine readable locations which are needed to display locations on a map, or to perform spatial data analysis.
