Gifmemes.io
A tool for creating gif memes with motion tracking
Today was a good day for gifmemes.io. First, a classic repost reached the top of reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgrammerHumor/comments/v7i28s/my_code_at_different_levels/, so that always brings joy, when mindlessly browsing.
Next, 3 people bought the 10 USD watermark + 3 USD from ads.
If every day was like this, I'd be at 1000 USD MRR, let's hope it keeps going.
Today, I've added ads and the option to remove them using in the same way as the watermark. I still need to see whether the revenue will be anything significant and whether it increases the sales of the "premium" password for ad and watermark removal.

The initial offer of the guy who contacted me was around 10 000 USD for the whole project, but since I still have some plans and see reasonable growth, I've declined the offer.
He came up with an alternative to just see and use the code, in exchange for 5000 USD because is business plan and project idea is a little different. I've accepted and completed the exchange.

I've managed to hijack a second comment on HN frontpage:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31508009
leading to around 1200 visits in a single day. This lead to above average earnings of 25 USD on that given day. Moreover, one of the readers contacted me about selling gifmemes.io.

I've added an option to remove watermark for 5-10 USD. It keeps steady at about a sale 1-2 days and made 190 USD in February. The 5 USD option is for user for click a button saying that the price is too high and about 50 % of users buy the cheaper option.

As a first, most user friendly attempt at monetisation, I've added a "Buy me a coffee". Right after addition, there were quite a few donations, but I think it might be the group of loyal fans, that used the website before . Most were the 5 USD ones, 50 USD and 60 USD from some super fans. Over the next moths, the donations decreased even though traffic is on the rise. In total, donations made 360 USD. (as of 6.6.2022)

I've solved most of the crucial bugs and hopefully be of some actual use to someone.
It can to quite reasonable motion tracking of higher quility gifs, adding text, images, exporting into webms (only chrome) and gifs.
There still quite a few known issues but those should be quite easy to solve.

I've seen too many poorly motion tracked gif memes or the ones done in pro tools. I don't want to by such editors and existing online editors just could not motion track or do animations at all.

Congrats, your tool looks good and it's easy to use!
I wouldn't recommend having the pricing "forever", you don't know what the tool will become to be. I would recommend either having it as a subscription or as a credits system (e.g. $5/mo for 20 credits, 1 credit = 1 gif export).
Yeah, I'm still thinking about it. Mostly just don't want to make people register, implement BE etc. 😄
The strategy I'm going for is like Duolingo - nice and usable on web and capitalistic over-optimized money machine on mobile, so I'll be releasing mobile apps hopefully this summer.
