I recently started exploring the future of education through my project, Global Bridge Education.
Working in international education, I’ve noticed something interesting: students today have more choices than ever, but they also face more confusion. There is more information available, but finding the right direction is becoming harder.
This makes me wonder: in the age of AI, what should the role of education become?
I don’t think education is only about getting into a good university. It should also help people understand themselves, explore different possibilities, and develop the confidence to make important life decisions.
I’m curious about how AI can support students, educators, and families in making better decisions.

How do you think AI will change education in the next 5-10 years?

Hi Bella — cool project. I've been thinking about a related angle from the builder side.
I don't work in education, but I've been using AI heavily while building my own product (TopStartNow). What's striking is how much faster I can learn things now. When I hit a bug in my DirectAdmin API integration or need to understand IRS Form 5472 filing rules, I don't spend hours searching forums anymore. I ask Claude, get a structured answer in 30 seconds, and keep building.
That makes me wonder: if AI can already compress "learning something new" from hours to minutes for adults, what happens to the traditional education model built around "spend 4 years learning things you might use later"?
My guess for 5-10 years: education shifts from "knowledge delivery" (lectures, textbooks) to "decision-making coaching." The knowledge part gets commoditized by AI. The human part — helping someone figure out what they actually want to do, holding them accountable, building confidence — becomes the valuable thing.
Curious what the educators in this thread think. Are you seeing this shift already?
Yeah, I agree with your point.
AI definitely compresses the time it takes to find and organize knowledge, but not necessarily the time it takes to grow. Students still need to think critically, question AI’s answers (because they’re not always right), and turn information into their own understanding.
From what I’ve seen in international education, universities will probably spend less time delivering information and more time helping students develop the things AI can’t easily teach—communication, teamwork, adapting to new environments, solving real-world problems, and figuring out who they want to become.
I’ve also noticed that many students grow the most outside the classroom—living in another country, making friends from different cultures, and learning to deal with challenges on their own.
So I think AI is changing what universities need to focus on. The focus is shifting from teaching content to developing people. If students spend less time searching for information, they’ll have more time to explore, build things, and discover what they really want to do.
I think one of the biggest shifts is that AI makes information easier to access, but not necessarily decisions easier to make.
If that's true, education becomes less about transferring knowledge and more about helping people develop judgment—understanding themselves, evaluating options, and knowing which questions are worth asking in the first place.
I completely agree. Good decisions require experience and self-awareness, not just information. That’s probably where educators can create the most value in the AI era.
One thing I'd keep watching is whether AI changes what students need to know or simply changes what they need to practice.
Those can sound similar, but they lead to very different ideas about what education should optimize for.
