Global Company Search API

Search 40+ countries' company registries in one API call

April 9, 2026 From $0 to launching a 40-country company search API — looking for feedback

I've been building for the past 2 months and just shipped. Looking for honest feedback.

What I built: An API that searches official government company registries across 40+ countries in one call. Pass a company name, LEI code, VAT number, or registration number — it auto-detects the format, routes to the right registries, and returns structured results with full provenance tracking.

The numbers:

  • 980+ government data sources, 42 countries

  • 82 sources in the flagship product, 60 verified and active

  • ~60 second response for a global search

  • $0.003 per result, free tier available

  • Revenue: $0 (just launched)

  • Runway: ~5 weeks

Why this exists: KYB (Know Your Business) verification market is $3.7B. D&B charges $100+/month and has 1.1/5 on Trustpilot. OpenCorporates is $100-500/month with half their data stale. There's nothing in the pay-per-query tier for people who just need to check if a company exists across jurisdictions.

The moat: 55+ custom adapters for different government API formats. Every country's registry returns data differently. Nobody wants to do this integration work — that's the defensibility.

Biggest mistake: Spent 2 months building infrastructure before thinking about distribution. Classic builder trap. Just started marketing this week.

What I need feedback on:

  1. Is $0.003/result the right price? Too cheap signals low quality, too expensive vs free alternatives.

  2. Where do due diligence consultants and compliance freelancers hang out online?

  3. Should I focus on API marketplace distribution (Apify/RapidAPI) or direct B2B outreach?

Brutal honesty appreciated — better to hear hard truths now than discover them in 5 weeks.

Company verification across countries is broken. Enterprise platforms charge $100-2,000/month. Free tools only cover one country at a time. I built this because nobody should need an enterprise contract just to check if
