July 16, 2025 Tired of teams guessing capacity, so I built GOAT

Every team I've worked with had the same problem: "Can we take this on?" always got answered with guessing instead of facts.

The Problem: Planning meetings became wishful thinking sessions. Nobody actually knew the team's real capacity. Existing tools were either too complex or required hours of setup that nobody had time for.

What GOAT Does:

  • Shows your team's actual availability in 5 seconds

  • Visual warnings when someone's getting overloaded

  • Anonymous health checks after each iteration

  • No complex setup - team updates via magic links

  • Built for sprint/iteration planning, not daily chaos (because daily plans fall apart anyway)

Why I Built This: Got tired of hearing "sure, we can fit that in" followed by chaos. Teams need something simple that works immediately, not another complicated tool they'll abandon after a week.

Current Status: Beta with a few teams testing it. Looking for feedback from other makers who've dealt with this capacity chaos.

Try it: begoat.app (14-day free trial)

Questions for you:

  1. How does your team currently figure out if you can take on new work?

  2. What's your biggest capacity planning pain point?

Would love to hear your experiences and get your thoughts!
