April 18, 2020 First marketing experiment over

So the results are in...

1 week of marketing (mostly FB ads)
2,000 visitors to the site
45 signups for a free account
3 paying customers

There's lots to learn from this experience. Traffic levels suggest there is some interest out there, and the it's nice to have a reasonable number of customers even if they aren't paying yet.

Things which probably need more work:

  • Not sure the landing page is great - try to get some feedback on this
  • It feels like users aren't very engaged in using the app - need to think about how to articulate the process and benefits a bit more clearly

It was a REALLY interesting experiment, which I'm glad I had the discipline to stop, rather than plough more money into this.

Next steps are to get as much feedback as I can to improve the proposition. Any ideas welcomed!!

April 13, 2020 First paying customer 🎉

So it's all been worth it...right? 🤔

I mean...sure...the site obviously crashed instantly, and I did have to work through the night to get it back up and running, but it sure is a nice feeling to have someone pay for something I built.

Since this momentous moment, I've had a bunch more signups so I must be doing something right.

I'll continue to commit to small spend Facebook marketing (£10 /day) to get some traffic and feedback while I work up a more organic strategy.

Fun times...

April 9, 2020 Released into the wild

The MVP is out there!! 🎉

If I'm honest, I've held onto it too long without getting feedback, worrying about the wrong things and building features which no-one will care about (except for me). It's my baby, so has been tough to let go, but it's finally done.

Is it perfect? No.

Does it do everything I want it to do? No.

Will it have bugs ? Probably.

But it works great, and it is out there which is feels great.

If you're not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late
