October 13, 2024 Working Full Time, just to keep it Free

At Gradienty.codes, we've made a conscious decision to keep all features free and accessible to everyone, without hiding them behind a paywall. The primary reason is that we believe in the power of open tools to fuel creativity and learning in the design community. By keeping it free, we aim to empower both novice and professional designers alike, enabling them to experiment with gradients, blobs, and other design elements without any financial barriers. Monetizing the platform by locking advanced features behind a paywall could limit innovation and creativity, which goes against the core ethos of why Gradienty was created.

Another reason is the strong sense of community that has developed around the tool. From the feedback and ideas provided by users, it became clear that people value the freedom to explore, learn, and create without restrictions. We want to foster that collaborative spirit and continue to listen to our users to improve the platform. By working full-time on Gradienty and keeping it free, we ensure that the tool remains accessible to everyone while also enhancing it based on what people need most.

Ultimately, our goal is to support designers in their journey, and the best way to do that is by removing any financial constraints. Gradienty’s success lies in its accessibility, and we’re committed to keeping it that way.

September 17, 2024 My First "5000 Views Per Month"

Hitting 5000 views per month for the first time was a huge milestone for me with Gradienty.codes. It wasn’t an overnight success but rather a result of consistent effort, genuine engagement, and, most importantly, word of mouth. When I launched Gradienty, I had no idea that so many people would find it useful, and while social media and SEO played a part, it was the organic spread through personal recommendations and conversations that made the biggest difference.

People started sharing it with their colleagues, in design communities, and across forums, appreciating the value it provided for free. I’ve seen firsthand how much more powerful authentic word-of-mouth marketing can be compared to paid advertising or promotional campaigns. Every mention, share, and personal recommendation from users made a direct impact, helping the site gain credibility and reach a broader audience.

It’s incredibly rewarding to know that users value the tool enough to tell others about it, and that’s something money can’t buy. Word of mouth continues to be the foundation of Gradienty’s growth, and for that, I’m deeply thankful.

July 5, 2024 Why I felt the need for Gradienty

The idea for Gradienty came from a personal need. As a developer who often works on web projects, I found myself spending way too much time trying to perfect gradient backgrounds and effects. Every time I needed a clean, smooth gradient, I would dive into trial-and-error, tweaking CSS properties to get just the right look. That’s when it hit me—why wasn’t there an easy tool to generate gradients, specifically tailored for Tailwind CSS? A tool where I could just select colors, preview the result, and copy-paste the code, without wasting time on experimentation.

I started by building a basic gradient generator for my own use. But as I refined it, I realized it had the potential to help many other designers and developers too. The key motivation was simplicity and accessibility, making sure anyone—regardless of their experience level—could use it effortlessly. Once I launched it, the feedback was immediate, and that’s when I knew I was onto something that people really needed.

By listening to user feedback, I continued to add more features, like text gradients and glassmorphism generators, and most recently, tools like blob generators and mesh gradients. What started as a small side project to solve my own problem grew into something much bigger, thanks to a shared need in the community. It’s been exciting to see how a simple idea transformed into a tool that so many people find valuable!
