GrindOn

Screen-time apps fail because they're dumb. GrindOn isn't.

After struggling with social media distractions while building my startup, I decided to build GrindOn, an AI-powered discipline app that helps ambitious people stay focused on their goals. Today marks the beginning of the journey.

Congrats on shipping. One thing I’d test hard in this category: don’t frame it as “be more motivated” or even “be disciplined.” Most people already know what they should be doing. The weak point is enforcement at the exact moment of temptation.

The sharper promise is closer to: make the bad default impossible.

Also think first activation matters a ton here. If a user has to build a whole productivity system before feeling value, they’ll bounce. I’d push them to set one blocked app/site, one schedule, and one strict rule immediately, then show them blocked-attempt logs so they can see the habit loop they were underestimating.

I’m building in the focus/blocking space too, and the clearest signal so far is that self-reported focus is noisy, but blocked attempts are brutally honest.

One thing I'd be curious about:

What convinced you the answer was building a new system rather than removing an existing one?

I'm asking because a lot of productivity problems seem to start when another tool gets added.

    Yours started there too.

About

I built GrindOn after struggling with the same problem myself. While working for my startup, I kept getting distracted by social media. I realized millions struggle with the same problem, so I created GrindOn.
