Grip Base

Payment gating tool for freelancers

Visit Website
April 22, 2026 I got tired of chasing invoices, so I'm exploring a "no pay, no access" idea

Freelancers don’t have a pricing problem — they have a payment problem.

Invoices get ignored,
follow-ups feel awkward,
and getting paid often depends on how persistent you are.

I’ve been looking into this space, and most tools seem to focus on reminders, tracking, or invoicing.

But they don’t actually solve the core issue — there’s no real control.

So I started thinking about a different approach:

What if payment wasn’t a request, but a condition?

Instead of sending work and hoping to get paid later,
what if access to the deliverable was locked until payment is made?

Kind of like: no pay → no access.

I’m not sure how well this would work in real workflows yet, so I’d love to get some honest feedback:

  • Would you ever use something like this?

  • Where would this break in your current process?

  • Would your clients push back on this?

Many freelancers have a payment control problem. And most existing tools just send reminders — they help them ask for payment, not enforce it. So, I wanted something with real leverage: no payment, no clean deliverable.
