Gror – Like‑Minded Social Networking
Anonymous, tag‑based networking app for adults in Denmark
Hey everyone, I'm a solo founder building Gror [https://gror.community/en] – an anonymous, tag-based social networking app for adults in Denmark.
The Problem:
Finding truly like-minded people as an adult—people who actually share your specific interests, goals, and life situation—is surprisingly difficult. Most existing platforms like Meetup, Bumble BFF, or local Danish apps like Boblberg often feel a bit superficial. They tend to connect you based on broad categories or just whoever happens to be nearby, rather than deep compatibility. I wanted to build something that matched people based on who they actually are.
What I Built:
I spent the last 9 months coding Gror from scratch using Svelte/SvelteKit and Firebase.
It’s not a dating app. It’s an anonymous network where users tag themselves with exactly what they are looking for (e.g., finding a co-founder, a travel partner, or starting a book club), their hobbies, and their personality. You then use hyper-specific filters to see who you have the most in common with—essentially finding your "vector sum" match.
The Business Model:
I strongly dislike ads and subscription traps in social apps, so I went with a pay-as-you-use model. The platform is free to use, filter, and search, but you pay a small one-time fee when you actually choose to connect with someone.
As a developer, coding the app was the fun part. Now I'm diving deep into marketing, SEO, and figuring out the cold-start problem for a social network, which is a completely different challenge.
Would love any feedback from other builders on the landing page, the SvelteKit stack, or the pay-as-you-use monetization model!
About
Proximity friendships fade. I built Gror, an anonymous tag-based social app, to connect adults in Denmark via shared interests. It's a deep-compatibility alternative to Boblberg and Bumble BFF.

The cold start problem for a niche social network is one of the hardest distribution puzzles out there you can’t grow both sides at once. Curious what channel you’re betting on first for Denmark specifically?
The part that resonated most wasn't the app itself—it was realizing the hardest challenge starts after the product works.
Building a social product is one problem. Getting enough of the right people in the same place at the same time is a completely different one.
