Grryno

Game server hosting by the minute.

February 27, 2022 Grryno hosted a major Twitch charity event

This morning I received a Discord message from Warp World, whom I had teamed up with to create some Twitch-streamer-specific features on Grryno.

The message said that an event was supposed to happen, right now, and they couldn't get the server working with the Twitch plugin. I hit instant panic mode when I realized the size of the event and started rushing to fix it. Luckily the guys at Warp World beat me to it and were able to patch the plugin in time for the event to happen, saving the day!

The charity event lasted for 3 hours and went off without a hitch. I was terrified the entire time!

Lesson learned: Don't implement any big updates the night before a major event is supposed to happen on your service! Also, I need to have a more robust way of checking that any updates don't break certain parts of the website.

March 21, 2020 Finished MVP

It took 5+ years of working on and off, but the mvp is finally here! :D

It started off entirely on Linode servers with a monthly subscription business model. I was never satisfied with this as I always wanted it to be a pay-for-use service. That changed about 2 years ago when I moved everything over to AWS, which enormously simplified the tech stack and finally allowed me to move to a pay-for-use business model.

About

I'm especially interested in open source and indie games, which seem to be lacking on other game server services. I want to make setting up and managing a game server as easy as possible, and with no monthly commitment.
