August 1, 2026 Former Chef + AI = Grub Guardian 🚀 Seeking Growth Co-Founder!

After losing 90% of my vision to glaucoma, I had to put away my chef knife—but since food is really all I know, I turned my culinary experience into code-free tech and built Grub Guardian.

What it does: Users snap a photo of their grocery receipt to auto-track items, receive smart expiration alerts, and generate chef-crafted AI recipes from what's in their fridge to eliminate food waste.

Where it stands:

  • Live on Web & Android (Google Play)

  • Fully functional 1-click receipt scanning & recipe engine

  • Ready-to-use video ad pipelines and marketing creative

What I'm looking for: I handle product development and maintenance. I’m looking for a Growth / Marketing Co-Founder (or performance lead) to take charge of TikTok/Reels, Meta Ads, or ASO on a rev-share or equity basis.

Drop a comment or message me if you'd like to test the app and collaborate!

The receipt scan feels like the important starting point here.

Most food-waste tools ask people to manually maintain an inventory, which becomes another chore. If the grocery receipt can create that inventory almost automatically, the alerts and recipe suggestions have a much better chance of becoming useful without requiring a new habit first.

Thanks for the positive comment. I also installed image recognition adds. If you just bought a single item, you can just snap a pic and it will use image recognition to identify and log your item into your inventory. I think my favorite is the leftover lab. My family meals always end up with stuff leftover. This feature will give you creative ways to incorporate them into your next day's meal planning so you don't need to toss it.

The Leftover Lab is interesting because it solves a slightly different moment than inventory tracking.

Have you seen any signal yet about which part people actually come back for—the tracking itself, expiry reminders, or figuring out what to do with food they already have?

Honestly, I haven't done anything like this before so I'm not sure how to get all the analytics, or understand the details. I had a meet a couple weeks ago with two guys from Emergent and they said I had over 100,000 requests in the first month after being published, which sounds like a good thing. That's why I'm looking to bring a partner onboard that can capitalize on what seems to be a promising start.

That's helpful context. The gap between seeing activity and knowing what that activity actually proves is probably the part that caught my attention most.

I'd be interested in continuing the conversation by email if you're open to it. What's the best email to reach you on?

When I put my email address in the reply it tells me I'm not allowed to post links yet

No problem — Indie Hackers does that with newer accounts.
