HabitKit is live on the App Store and Google Play

Today is the release day of HabitKit, a minimalistic habit tracking app for iOS and Android.

iOS: https://apple.co/3ilhVDm
Android: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roehl.habitkit
Landing Page: https://www.habitkit.app

The idea for HabitKit came about when I noticed two things:

  • Many of my friends are trying to develop new habits but find it difficult to stick to them
  • Lots of people love the GitHub contribution graph

So I decided to create an app that would help people track their progress and stay motivated by visualizing their consistency with a cool tile-based grid graph.

The app was developed over the course of the last two months only by myself with Flutter. The goal was to create an intuitive and minimal interface that would make it really easy for people to track their completions and keep an overview of their past performance. Future releases of HabitKit will include various new features like a streak-/goal-system, notifications and home screen widgets.

i love the UI so much, but unfortunately, not having sync between my Mac and iPhone is a dealbreaker for me :( would love to purchase the app if this feature rolls out

App looks great, but FWIW not having sync across devices and platforms (Android, iOS) is sadly a dealbreaker.

    Looking great! Two questions:

    • Does the recorded progress sync across devices/various instances of the app?
    • If I pay the subscription on iOS, does it work on Android too or is that a separate subscription tier?
If the answer to either question is yes, I'd be curious about what underlying solution you have used.

Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out!

      • Your progress will not be synced automatically between devices. Pro users have the ability to export their data to JSON and import this file at a later point of time.
      • If you're using both iOS and Android you would need to buy/subscribe for each platform. That would probably only be possible by linking the purchase to a user account (which HabitKit doesn't support)

    Great job with this release!
Looks great on iOS. Have you hit any problems/limitations with Flutter?

      Thank you very much!
The only problem I encountered with Flutter is that there is some kind of initial lag for animations on iOS. That's a well-known problem in the Flutter community and the team is actively working on a new rendering solution, so I hope that I will solve that problem soon!
