December 29, 2020 Launched on Product Hunt

Today I launched the product on Product Hunt. In fact, I had scheduled it last night itself.

I am doing the launch directly from the gumroad page and without a landing page and domain. I will add those later depending on how the launch goes.

I also shared the link on Reddit and Linkedin.

December 25, 2020 Finished MVP

It took me a week, but I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for Hacker News Front Page Explorer. The data for the year 2020 is in. However, meanwhile, I got myself banned from accessing HN. I have never done any web scraping before. I also discovered a nifty new tool called http://scrapingbee.com/ that helps avoid getting banned by websites. At least Now I can finish my database using this tool.

December 19, 2020 The Idea

I had an idea for a few weeks for creating a top school website in my country. I needed to Scrape some data from some websites for this. I started researching tutorials on how to do it. I Stumbled upon a tutorial where the example was scraping few posts from Hacker News. While I was learning Scraping using this example, I thought why not build a database around Hacker News data itself.
That's what led to me building this.
