An app that help travellers avoid taxi scams
Another big day for our young startup. We are currently #5 product of the day on PH and we are so proud. We have actually been waiting to post on PH until we had posted on the smaller tech sites (betalist, launchingnext, etc..) just to get some feedback and see how we would do, before launching on PH. But now we are LIVE, and hopefully we can keep getting upvotes (and a few more comments).
Doing our recently launch of our travel app, hagglestar, we have submitted our start up on these sites to gain feedback on our MVP and gain some traction:
- launchingnext.com (free listing)
- Betapage.co (free listing)
- Betalist.com (free listing)
We have only been featured on betalist so fare, but managed to enter their newsletter. We are still waiting to be featured in launchingnext and betapage (apparently they have 30-40 days waiting time unless you want to pay).
Next we will focus on Product Hunt, which is our last stop, until we start develop the product even further.

Hi @yac,
Indeed. There was a few comments from the crowd, saying the like the idea and shared their own stories about taxi scams. But analytics show, that most of our traffic in now from betalist, which is great. We got a few sale-mails as well from other startups pitching themself (which is fair game I guess) :)

After a lot of testing and fixes, we finally launched on Google Play. The app still behaves a bit different on android compared to iOS, which I guess is standard with React. We could use some betatesters before we push the app on PH. You can check taxi prices in Asia, Scandinavia and the US. Note: There is inly a few data sources in the US, which means prices can be a few % off. Link to Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hagglestar&hl=en

Last week we launched our very first app on App Store and got the first 100 downloads from friends & family and got some solid feedback (great). Now we are waiting for the Android version which is causing us a lot of problems. We have tested on several devices, but the result is always different and there is still a few bugs. Hopefully we can launch at the end of the week, so we can push hagglestar.com out there.

How are you building on Android? I recently launched a React Native app and it was rough. Thankfully the app isn't too complicated but it was still pretty unpleasant to debug.

Hi. Just to let you know, I am not the developer of the team but the business guy. The iOS version is working fine, but our developer is struggling a lot with the Android version, and simply cannot fixe the last bugs. I think we have to launched it as it is and keep working on it.

After 7 month building together with the team, we have finally launched on App Store. BIG day for us.
This is how we did it:
- Got the idea
- Found an awesome co-founder who had a different skill-set
- sketched up a prototype
- Found an MVP startup agency
- Brainstormed and changed the idea a bit
- Build for a long time (we were a small team)
- Launched on App Store
- Android version and testing next

After a trip to Bali I experienced that you had to haggle for every price on the street and specially when using taxis.
Pretty annoying.
I had no idea what the correct price level was and decided to address this by coming up with an app idea.
Then, hagglestar was born.

Paying up to 300% TOO much for a taxi ride in development countries, are simply too much.
