I just launched Hawksubber, an iOS app that automatically discovers your subscriptions by analyzing your email accounts using AI.
The Problem I Solved
Most subscription management apps out there require either:
Manual entry of every subscription (tedious)
Connecting your bank account/credit card (privacy concerns)
I didn't like either option and was looking for a middle-ground solution, so I came up with this approach.
How It Works
Connect your email (Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, AOL) using secure OAuth
AI scans your emails for subscription-related messages in about a minute
View everything in one dashboard with spending insights and renewal notifications
What Makes It Different
Zero manual entry - finds subscriptions you might have forgotten about
Privacy-focused - no bank account access needed, emails processed temporarily only
Proactive notifications - reminds you before renewals so you can cancel if needed
Tech Challenges
Building the AI email parsing was interesting. Sometimes third parties, sometimes laws... roadblocks always seem to appear somehow, but we got there.
What's Next
Building an Android version (WIP)
Adding more email providers
Exploring potential Gmail support (though that's... complicated)
Improving spending analytics
