Why We Built Heights Platform

I have always been passionate about learning, and I firmly believe the existing education system is broken. Instead of going to college, I started and bootstrapped my own company. That was over 10 years ago, and I consider myself to be far ahead of many peers who did go through the traditional education system. We live in a time where there is more opportunity for the individual than ever before, yet many don't have the skills in order to take advantage of it.

Many entrepreneurs are trying to monetize their knowledge with online courses, though this usually means a couple videos on a WordPress site and access to a facebook group (a poor solution).

While these entrepreneurs, mentors, and coaches might have true skill, it is hard to create results for your students with an improper system. The value of a simple video online, and a program that gets you a result are vastly different.

Game companies, and social media companies spend so much time on optimizing mechanics and feedback loops in order to keep users coming back for more. Why not use knowledge of these principles and data to build a platform that will help a student get results? Entrepreneurs have valuable skills to teach, but that doesn't make them master course designers. Why not build constraints to help course creators setup their content the most effective way?

These are some of the problems that we aim to solve with Heights Platform. I want people who might never think of being a teacher because the pay and time constraints, to instead create an online course where they have the potential to both earn more and impact more people.
