Helicity.ai
AI Powered Browser Game Engine
Hello everyone! 🙋♂️ I thought I'd share my latest game development adventure with you all. Recently, I thought to myself, "Making Flappy Bird in my own game engine? How hard can it be?" 🤔
I learned a lot of things I need to add to my Engine.
Helicity.ai is my Game Engine.

Hey, devs! 🖐🎮
Hope you're all having a nice day! I have some cool updates on helicity.ai
Inbuilt DALL E Support
I've integrated DALL-E support! 🎨🖌️ Yes, so from now on, you can define your sprite URL as "lookup: some description", and Helicity.ai will generate a unique sprite for you on the fly using DALL-E. Create unique, custom images without having to leave the IDE.
How I made it
So it all happens in the Gameobject.js module. Whenever you make a new instance of the GameObject, this code runs
When you put "lookup:" string in your image source, it takes this as a request and calls a firebase function made in Express
The firebase function calls the DALL E API looking up the string after "lookup:" and asynchronously returns the image-url, this is sent back to the game object.
The game object image is drawn every frame using *render() *(automatically in the game loop) or else, its just a black box
The savedImages makes sure that if 2 game objects are created with the same lookup description, multiple called aren't made to dall e. For example pipes in flappy bird.

Hey everyone!
I'm excited to share that I'm currently developing an AI game engine called Helicity.ai✨. It's a browser-based game engine that's still in the works, but I'd love for you all to try it out!💖
The AI part is only a really cool add on and this game engine works on its own.
If you are interested in the development, lets chat 1 on 1 here!

What happens in helicity.ai?
I'm currently deep in development on the engine, and I've been making a lot of progress. Almost everything is coded in FERN - Firebase, Express, React, and Node.
In the Code Editor, the Main.js code you write is used to control a canvas element. There are concepts like Gameobjects, Input handling, Rendering etc on which I have developed a tiny framework.
I tried teaching GPT3 the framework, but it wasn't enough. It was like trying to teach a 10 year old calculus🙃🌧️...
Then I taught GPT3.5 the framework and it is able to make simple games using it!🥳🥳 I used the openai API to create a Firebase function in Node, Express that writes the code for you based on a prompt.
It still makes mistakes and repeats code but is a lot better now.
I have applied for the GPT4 API waitlist and will soon use that. The extra parameters and creativity is what makes the AI work, and that's why GPT3 did not.
