Hello World

Another fortnight, another dev milestone completed!

Cricket sounds endure, but that's OK -- Rome wasn't built in a fortnight. We're taking advantage of this quiet time to focus on building, polishing, and communicating.

The theme of this milestone was 'polish'. We got through a ton of bugs and minor enhancements, which will increase reliability and decrease maintenance when things pick up again.

That said, we still managed to squeeze in some important features: member discounts, student management, single sign-on foundations, an Hour of Code course, and the beginnings of a marketing publication.

Next up: more of the same, then switching gears to B2B and direct sales. As we move forward, the scales will tip more towards marketing/sales and less towards product -- at least for a while.

If you build it, they will [not] come. The journey is only just beginning.

After another successful dev milestone (and despite a ton of distractions on the Internet), we've managed to publicly launch on our website and on social media.

So far, so... crickets. But that was to be expected.

We're a tiny operation consisting of me wearing literally every hat, and lately, a part time developer for some extra manpower. I now have to switch my focus to marketing and sales. But that was to be expected.

Onwards!

After months of experimenting, learning, and iterating, we’re finally almost there!

We’re days away from publicly launching our educational service to consumers (ie. direct to parents). Check it out at Hello World.

The origin story:

Our service was born of a need to educate kids in our community (including my own) in coding and other tech subjects.

We started off teaching on Code.org in a local community centre, switched to Zoom during COVID, changed learning platforms a couple of times, partnered with another educational institution, and now, have finally found our sweet spot.

Even though we’ve been operating for a while, I still don't feel ready to share this service with the world. But you know what they say about not feeling embarrassed == launching too late. So here we are.

We can’t wait to provide exceptional educational experiences to more kids in Sydney, and one day, maybe even around the world. Here's to more tech ed!
