August 4, 2021 First profitable month! (4 days in...)

After selling my first company-wide "unlimited" plan to an 850-person company, it's already my first profitable month!

Closing the deal took way longer than expected (6 weeks?). The process was simple - a 20-minute demo and a 20-minute IT review. But in between there were weeks of silence. I tried to be creative in applying some friendly indirect pressure, and eventually it came through.

I got here with a "land and expand" strategy - start with one team, then expand to others. Hailey grew from 1 to 7 teams over 2-3 months, then I went directly to HR to close a larger deal.

Congrats!! I'm curious, how did you decide how to price your "unlimited" plan? And how did you go about finding the company?

      Thanks!

Re: pricing, I estimated total # of teams from their total headcount, estimated a % adoption (say 30-40%), then multiplied by a discounted price per team. Then I did some rounding.

A friend initially installed Hailey with her team. It quickly spread by word of mouth to 4 teams, then 7 teams. Then I was introduced to people in People Ops and IT who eventually purchased the company-wide plan.

        Awesome, well done!

June 11, 2021 💸 Made my first sale!

After 6 months of building and grinding, HelloHailey has its first paying customer!

I let teams use it for free from January until end of May, when I notified everyone they'd have to start paying by June 20. In hindsight, I should've asked for money sooner.

Teams can pay $25 / team / month, or $240 / team / year (20% off). The first team opted for the annual plan.

With 12 companies and 30+ teams on free trials, it'll be an exciting week as I see who else converts!

June 2, 2021 🚀 Launched on Product Hunt!

📈 I launched HelloHailey as a rough MVP in January. Today, it connects 700 remote workers across 31 teams and 12 companies every single day.

April 14, 2021 500 users! And a brand new website

HelloHailey connects remote teammates through conversations, challenges, and asynchronous mini-games in Slack.

I launched to the first team in January. It quickly spread to 75% of the first company's 200 employees. Today, 503 teammates in 29 teams and 9 companies use HelloHailey every workday.

This growth has come on the back of a hacked-together landing page that didn't really describe the product (as many IH'ers were quick to point out in my prior posts...). Today I'm launching the new and improved HelloHailey.io, which will hopefully attract the next 500 users and beyond!

February 6, 2021 10 teams, including my first truly organic signup

10 teams are now using my HelloHailey MVP, and I just got my first truly organic signup. All of the previous signups were from my newsletter or close friends.

Even more promising, all of those teams are still using it after several weeks. They're engaging with it regularly, and it's achieving its mission of instigating team bonding and brief moments of joy throughout the workday.

Seeing someone discover it organically and sign up feels like a huge win, even if I'm not making money yet (coming soon ;) )

January 4, 2021 Launched an MVP

I set a goal in December of launching my MVP by January 15. I didn't want to spend more than a month building it. I beat my target!

After 3 weeks of building, HelloHailey is now installed in Slack workspaces for 3 teams.

I'm not charging yet, but will start by the end of Q1.
