After a few weeks of building, I am happy to announce that heute.is is finally ready to launch in a minimal version. There are still a ton of things I would like to improve and add, however, I believe I have now reached a solid state where people can initial get some first value. Here's what you can do with the current version:
✅ Answer a daily reflective question and see it elegantly on the screen for that day
✅ Daily changing quote
✅ Daily new feature image
✅ Simplistic Pomodoro Timer with automatic Lofi music to boost flow state
The tool works without the need to create an account so users can play with it with minimal friction. The next steps on the roadmap are creating a mobile-optimized version for this, a task feature, and a native version for iOs.
Around two weeks ago, I came up with the idea of heute.is - a tool that helps me focus my days. After rigorously brainstorming where I want to take heute.is in the future, I quickly realized there is much more I wanna build than a simple, yet beautiful personal dashboard screen. In the end, however, you gotta start somewhere and not get lost in many exciting ideas.
Along the mantra of "ideas are easy, execution is hard", I started outlining the very first essential version of heute.is - the MVP. For now, this is what the first MVP will look like:
➡️ An elegant dashboard with daily updating background image
➡️ Date, Time & Year in Percent display
➡️ An inspiring quote changing daily
➡️ A daily prompt of "What's the most impactful thing you can accomplish today?" which can be answered
➡️ A simplistic pomodoro timer
This basic feature set is enough to provide initial value (at least for me) and I hope others will find it useful as well. I started coding already and will share more updates soon on the tech stack I used and the process behind designing the tool.
I will build the MVP in the most simple way while delivering a high-quality experience for users. The quote from Dieter Rams "less but better" describes my approach flawlessly.

Today, I came up with the initial idea of heute.is so let me share some insights into what's behind it.
In the past, I have passionately used the Chrome extension Momentum to beautify the experience of opening new tabs. However, I repeatedly saw things in the extension I wish worked differently. Being a passionate product nerd, I thought why not build my own version of this while adding my personal tweaks to it.
So here we go. I am building heute.is to create a beautiful dashboard that people can interact with daily to focus their days. I am planning on adding reflective questions, a beautiful UI, pomodoro timers as well as some further experimental features with the mission to help more people focus their days and achieve their full potential.
I am excited to work on this passion project on the side and share my progress on the heute.is blog, as well as with the indie hacker community.
