HeySync

Your Calendly-like link for async tasks

March 16, 2023 Feedback wanted for HeySync.co - async task management and scheduling.

Hi folks,

I built HeySync to scratch my own itch - getting control of requests from colleagues, and prioritizing and blocking time in my calendar to get these done.

HeySync provides a Calendly-like link which can be shared with colleagues or clients to request you to complete a task (e.g. review a document). HeySync allows you to triage the tasks from a simple dashboard, and schedule time in your calendar to spend addressing the task at the click of a button.

As someone who works mostly async, I believe this could be useful for others who work in async workplaces/environments, e.g. freelancers or developers.

I'd love feedback for:

  1. Does this idea sound useful to you specifically? If not, are there specific personas that this could be useful to?
  2. If you are interested in signing up, feedback on whether it actually helps you.
  3. Any bugs/feature requests for active users.
  4. If you think this is just plain stupid.

Thanks!

I can confirm the problem exists. Oftentimes, colleagues will contact me on Mattermost (a Slack alternative) asking me to do something, and I find it cumbersome and error-prone to have to manage these tasks separately from emails (I strive for Inbox Zero) and Jira issues.

However, I doubt that your approach with links would work for me. If I can't get colleagues to send emails or assign issues for async tasks, I'm sure they would not use a HeySync link either.

What could work IMO is a tool that has a bunch of integrations and allows me to convert any kind of task to another. Example: have a Mattermost/Slack/Discord bot command that will turn the last message sent to me on the channel I entered it into a Jira issue without me having to copy-paste stuff.

Shipped HeySync to help with a problem I've been facing at my day job: being bombarded with Slack DM's for things that can be done later. HeySync was a way for me to get control of my calendar and tasks.
