Historico - Today in History
iOS app & widgets to discover daily historical events
5 days after the initial launch Historico reached more than 1000 downloads. It's a super small step in an app's lifecycle but a huge milestone for me.
Most surprisingly, more than 50% of downloads came from China, which I didn't even consider as a potential market.
Officially launched the app on ProductHunt and my personal social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).

Spent some time (around 48 hours) building a solid landing page for the app and revamping my personal website. Finally, I could use my TailwindUI subscription for a real-life project.
I'm planning to start writing blog posts about my ideas and things I'm working on.

After spending about 88 hours on the application development during weekends (yes, I've more or less logged those), I've finished the initial version and released it to a couple of friends of mine.
They started to test the app and they provided some really valuable feedback and suggestions.

Originally, this app was meant to be an excuse for me to learn SwiftUI but I've found it particularly useful, so I decided to polish and share it with a broader audience.
I wanted to keep the overall look & feel close to the Human Interface Guidelines and build a "good platform citizen". I came up with a minimalist brownish brand color set and the built-in serif font (New York).

About
I’ve built Historico to spend time on my iPhone usefully. Instead of endlessly scrolling Instagram or Twitter, I decided to learn a new fact every day which could serve as a conversation starter for my friends.
