Houm.me now live in New Zealand!

We did a soft launch in Jan this year, got our first 1000 users in April. Both have been significant milestones for us. Now, we are live in New Zealand, and we cannot be more excited!

Product development is never easy, agree? Our challenge was, getting user feedback. We couldn’t set up in-app trackers; else, houm.me would not be private anymore. So, we did not have any app usage data to analyze user pain points or delightful app interactions. We had to rely on our early adopters for feedback during our initial months. A handful of power users were kind enough to give in-depth feedback, and they helped us a great deal. We made a considerable architectural overhaul. The new version of Houm is “Private by Default”. Super excited to see how the Kiwis treat us!

Many product makers consider New Zealand the best test market before entering the US/ EU markets.

We too, are keeping our eyes and ears open for any learnings that we can get from New Zealand to help us with other markets. We’ll share them with you in our upcoming updates here.

But, how has your experience launching a digital product for the kiwis been? Do you have any recommendations to make it big in New Zealand?

Many established companies invite their users to "share your usage data anonymously to improve our service". Do you think you could do that, too? You could display this opt-in after some time to gain trust. If people love your product, they would be eager to help you.

The downside is that the stats would be probably skewed towards the users who love you. The ones who don't will probably ignore this opt-in.
