IS THIS SAFE? WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU FARM Idling isn't cheating in the VAC sense — there's no documented case of a VAC ban from pure idling, because VAC scans for cheat signatures inside a running game process, and an idle session never touches a multiplayer server. That said, Steam's Subscriber Agreement does technically restrict automated tools and lists inflated playtime as an example — Valve just hasn't enforced that against ordinary idling in over a decade of people doing it in the open.
