HTTPBot
REST Client for iOS
The new Developer Tools (and Graphics Design) category went live on the App Store today, and HTTPBot is one of the apps that have been featured there!
To mark the occasion, I've decided to offer a 50% discount on the Pro unlock, just for a few days. I'm eager to see how both the feature, and this sale, play out over the next few days and more.
I added the following new features for this release:
✨ Shortcuts support! Favorited requests, and requests in collections can be added as shortcut actions.
✏️ A bulk editor to quickly edit params, variables and headers.
🔌 And finally, a better foundation, for more app extensions and modules in the future.

Apple announced that there will now be a Developer Tools category on the iOS App Store, for which they started accepting submissions. I've updated HTTPBot to take advantage of this. For now, the category is not visible directly on the App Store - it's likely to arrive along with iOS 13.4 - but I hope when it does, it'll have an effect on the app's discoverability on the App Store.

This release mainly focusses on supporting Apple platform features. HTTPBot has been a universal app for iPhone and iPad from the start, but it's important for users that apps work well within the Apple ecosystem. To this end, the app now supports:
☁️ iCloud sync between multiple devices.
🅰 Dynamic Type font size.
🔍 Spotlight search for requests.

This was a long due release, with a host of new features, such as:
✉️ Support for uploading changes to Postman. Till this release, it was only possible to import Postman collections, but not sync back changes made locally.
🔐 Saved authentication credentials, so that users can quickly authenticate requests.
📊 Response Metrics such as destination IP address, durations, redirect information etc are now displayed
(And yes, I changed to chronver for versioning! 🙃)

This is a "Support for iOS 13" launch.
The new OS brings in a lot of new features, like dark-mode, contextual action menus, multi-window on iPad, and so on. Needless to say, the app now supports all of these!
I was hoping to support full Postman sync in this release, but that didn't happen unfortunately.

The app now has more than 50,000 downloads on the App Store, since launch! The majority of downloads have been from the Asia Pacific region, followed by Europe, and then US/Canada. Interesting, since when it comes to revenue, it's the exact reverse order!

This was a long time coming, but the app finally supports downloading collections and workspaces from the Postman API! It's however just a one-way sync, meaning any changes made locally arent uploaded back yet.
The main issue is that the Postman API expects collections to support their schema format, and while the app does support it, it isnt yet fully compliant with a few fields.
The other issue is that I of course need to be careful with any uploaded changes not unintentionally leading to data loss for the user.. hopefully I will be able to support full sync in the coming months.

The app's UI was getting a little long in the tooth, so I did a redesign 😅
The existing app really looked out of place on modern iOS, and I also wanted to set the base for many features to come.
Reception for the new design was pretty good, and there was a small bump in daily downloads. I also bumped the IAP price to $8.99... turns out, I should have done this a long time ago, as there was literally no change in the number of daily unlocks. Lesson learnt!

The fact that the app has pro features to be unlocked is not very obvious. I only inform the user if and when they choose to use those features. Based on the suggestion from my friend, I included a prominent button right on the home screen, that took the user to the same IAP unlock page. The effect of this was increased conversions, since more people were discovering the unlock.
