HuddleUp
Asynchronous standups for remote development teams
Greetings to all you Indie Hackers!
After working on it for a few weeks already, I'm finally feeling like my new project has enough to it to start talking about it.
I was motivated to start building HuddleUp based on over 10 years experience working with remote and distributed software teams and having seen very little improvement in the tools available to keep team members in sync with one another. Moving the traditional in-person daily standup online can cause more problems than it solves when you're working across multiple time zones and developer schedules.
This is probably the 10th SaaS business I've started work on in the past several years. The biggest challenges for me have almost always been maintaining consistency and overcoming setbacks. I'm hoping that I can change that this time by getting more involved in the community and being more public about my progress.
So far, the project mostly consists of a simple landing page, some basic scaffolding, and a lot of big ideas, but I'm looking forward to sharing my progress over the coming weeks and months as I work on features, try to find customers, and bootstrap it to success.
About
Daily standups for remote and distributed teams are a time suck. HuddleUp wants to free developers from 10-way Zoom calls so they can get back to making awesome stuff.

Does integrate with Slack or is this a stand alone application?
Eventually, I want to hook into as many of the places where developers are doing their work as possible, and that includes Slack. I see it as a channel for prompts and notifications which would drop links from the tool but not as a place for directly submitting reports or as a headless system a la something like Geekbot. But as it's still early days, that could change depending on user enthusiasm.
That landing page look great. Very nice!
Thanks, @wjessen!
i think its great idea and i love everything async, especially comm
the only thought that comes to mind , is that during scrums or stand ups, people are using updating jira or some sticky or something of that sort. how could that potentially integrate?
Thanks Ahmad! My idea is to decouple the "during" part of the standup and let team members report in and review check-ins on the schedule that suits them best. So in this case, I suppose that either the manager or each individual developer would update the PM tool depending on however the team decides it should be done.
I 'm certainly envisioning hooking into the places where these teams already live like GitHub and Jira and so on, so it would really just be a question of figuring out what automation opportunities are with each platform.
love it! plus i think something like this would be extremely testable since you can really zoom in on your target audience
Hey Chris, like your product idea! Consider landing the first 20 sales via 1-1 calls, that's the fastest way to gain traction. Can help you with user acquisition and marketing to get it to 12K ARR in 3 months, let's connect on Twitter :)
