Rather than do an extensive private beta, I decided to push the first release out and hit a classic snag.

Apparently, I had forgotten to include code for one of the features which needed a database update and migration. Instead of this being a straightforward quick update, of course I had to work through a bunch of technical issues, but now that it's working, I have a better understanding of the technology I'm using (Realm).

I did one user interview for about an hour with lots of feedback on what made sense to me but was not intuitive to her. She does a lot of mobile app testing for a bank, so she was great at providing constructive feedback.

I posted the app on my personal social pages and only did a tiny bit of outreach (1 email/1 DM). Got one positive response and one negative (not negative about the app, just that they were too busy to check it out).

Have about half of my own marketing plan written that I will stick to in the months to come.

Goals:
• Finish marketing plan
• Send 20 cold outreach messages
• Do one user interview
• Email users to ask for reviews

(Goals are limited due to needing to finish a large migration project on my other app suite)

September 18, 2021 Launched on App Store

After 10 months of building on the side, I finally got to the point that the MVP seems viable.

Of course, that remains to be seen.

But as of now, HuntMob is available on the iOS App Store.

I decided to launch quietly (just to friends and family with a bit of personal twitter and instagram/fb promotion).

There were 10 people on my email list (including 2 of my own email addresses for testing 😂) and have 25 sign ups in the first 6 hours and nothing is crashing.

Here we go!

December 20, 2020 Photo Scavenger Hunts as Lead Magnets

Right before Christmas in 2020, my family downloaded a Christmas photo scavenger hunt off of Pinterest. We split up into 2 teams, boys and girls, and we spent the evening taking photos.

When we got home, we airplayed the photos onto the TV and laughed and had tons of fun.

At the same time, I had been working on a bunch of landing pages with PDF downloads behind email forms for a startup I was working for.

What I realized was that there must be other people that want to create lead magnets but don't want to make a PDF or do a webinar.

Maybe there are others out there who want to do super fun stuff like photo scavenger hunts to help move their audience to their email list.

I was also learning SwiftUI at the time and decided to go all in during my free time to put together the HuntMob app.

I bought the domain name and got to building right away.
